What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is SIM card that is embedded in the device. It is a service that provides a smarter and more convenient way to stay connected. eSIM only works on unlocked eSIM-compatible devices. When using an eSIM you do not need a physical SIM card: on an eSIM compatible device, subscribers can start connecting by simply scanning a QR Code and entering a Confirmation Code or manually enter the details provided in the eSIM confirmation details.

Device compatibility also varies from country to country. For example, iPhones XS, XS Max and XR sold in China, Macau and Hong Kong are not eSIM compatible - however, they are Dual SIM phones with 2 physical SIM slots.

Google Pixel 3 and 3XL devices are eSIM compatible, however, certain Pixel 3s work when they have "add carrier" option.

How many eSims can I have ?

eSIM compatible devices allow you to install multiple eSIMs - this means you can have 1 physical SIM card and 1,2,3,4 or even 5 eSIM plans. The max amount of eSIMs you can have on your device is depending on device and manufacturer. If unsure please ask your manufacturer. While only 1 eSIM can be active at a time, it only takes a few seconds to switch between them. This can be managed on your device’s Mobile/Cellular Settings.

How do I install an eSIM?

After purchasing an eSIM you will receive detailed information on how to add the eSIM to your eSIM capable device.There are 2 ways to add an eSIM to your device:

Option 1 - Adding the eSIM by scanning the QR Code

To scan the QR Code, follow the below steps on your device:

  1. Settings
  2. Cellular/Mobile
  3. Add Cellular/Mobile Plan.

Scan your eSIM QR Code and enter the 4-digit confirmation code when prompted(if available).

Option 2 - Adding eSIM manually

If you are experiencing issues scanning the QR code or receive the QR code on the device you are using, there is another option on your device that will allow you to enter details manually. You will be asked to enter:

SM-DP+ Address

Activation Code

Confirmation Code(if available)

All of these details are included in the eSIM confirmation details received after purchase.

Where can I find my eSIM confirmation code?

This code can be found in the confirmation details sent to you after you have purchased the eSIM.

How do I setup my eSIM ?

Depending on the eSIM you purchase, there are different ways to set up the service. The information regarding your specific eSIM can be found in the details received after purchasing the eSIM and in the additional eSIM information available for each eSIM package.

How do I set my APN ?

To be able to access data on your device, when using certain eSIMs you will first need to save the eSIMs APN and then turn Data Roaming On.

For iPhones and iPad:

Settings > cellular/mobile > cellular/mobile data networks and change the cellular/mobile > APN > change the APN to the name provided in your eSIM installation details received after purchase.

Android:

To access data on an android phone or tablet you need to manually add an Access Point Name. You can locate this option under the settings > wireless and networks > mobile Networks > access point name > change the APN to the name provided in your eSIM installation details received after purchase.

Why do I need to upload mu passport photo and details (KYC) ?

For certain countries there are regulations in place that means that customers need to complete an KYC process to be able to activate a new telecommunication service. eKYC is a paperless Know Your Customer (KYC) authentication process, wherein the identity and address of the subscriber are verified electronically. It is to validate customer identity and assessing their suitability, along with the potential risks of illegal intentions towards the usage of our services.

How do I recharge my eSIM ?

Depending on the eSIM you purchase there are different ways to top up the service. The information regarding your specific eSIM can be found in the details received after purchasing the eSIM and in the additional eSIM information available for each eSIM package.

How do I know wich SIM is using data ?

Navigate to your device’s Mobile/Cellular Settings and check under “Mobile Data”. Your device will specify whether it is using data from the Primary SIM (your physical, regular SIM card) or the eSIM. If you have multiple eSIMs installed, your device will also specify which eSIM is being used by displaying its label - the nickname which you chose for your eSIM at the point of installation.

Can I receive phone calls on my normal number ?

Yes! The Dual SIM Dual Standby technology in compatible handset models lets you remain connected with your physical SIM and your eSIM simultaneously. Do I have to delete my eSIM after I have used it ?

You do not need to remove the eSIM after use but if you wish to remove the eSIM, navigate to your device’s Mobile/Cellular Settings, tap on the eSIM you want to delete and select “Remove Mobile Data Plan”. Depending on the device, it can also be “Remove eSIM”, “Delete Mobile Plan”, or something similar.

Alternatively, you can temporarily disable the eSIM. Within your device’s Mobile/ Cellular Settings, you will find an option to “Turn on/off this Line”. If you disable the eSIM instead of removing it, you can re-enable and reuse it at a later time.

How long can I use my eSIM ?

Experiencing problems with the service

I cannot scan my QR code, what do I do ?

If you cannot scan the provided QR Code, you can install the eSIM by entering details manually. You will be asked to enter the SM-DP+ Address, Activation Code, and Confirmation Code - all of which are included in the eSIM confirmation details provided after purchase.

My eSIM is not connecting ?

Is the roaming switch ON?

To ensure you are connected you must switch your roaming switch ON when travelling. You can find the Roaming Switch in your iPhone Settings.

For certain eSIMs you might need to check your APN settings. These details how to set your APN is included in the eSIM installation instructions you receive after purchasing your eSIM.

Do You Have Coverage?

If you find yourself in an area with limited mobile coverage, or no coverage at all, you will find it difficult to access the internet. Try switching locations and make sure you have enough signal bars to connect to 3G or 4G/LTE.

If you are in good coverage and tried everything else, you can always try a full power-down restart and see if that helps.
